Flirty Fits addresses the common issue of individuals frequently purchasing clothes yet feeling like they have nothing suitable to wear.
The app aims to empower users to create stylish outfits tailored to their personality, favorite body features, and activities, enabling them to plan outfits based on location, weather, and daily engagements.
The goal was to enhance wardrobe utilization and boost user confidence in outfit selection.
As the Lead UX Designer, I undertook multiple responsibilities:
• Conducted user research to understand the target audience's needs and preferences.
• Led ideation sessions to conceptualize features aligning with user requirements.
• Created sketches and wireframes to visualize the app's layout and functionality.
• Developed the brand platform and design system to ensure a cohesive user experience.
• Designed the user interface, focusing on aesthetics and usability.
• Built interactive prototypes and conducted usability testing to refine the app's design.
A combination of secondary and primary research methods was employed:
• Secondary Research: Analyzed existing literature and market data to understand wardrobe utilization and purchasing behaviors.
• Primary Research: Conducted user interviews with individuals who frequently buy clothes but feel they have limited options to wear, aiming to uncover their jobs-to-be-done, pains, and gains.
• Competitive Research: Identified underserved jobs and opportunities to differentiate our brand and provide a superior user experience.
• Design & Prototyping: Adobe XD
• Ideation: Mural
• User Interviews: Zoom, Otter AI
• Visual Image Generation: Mid-Journey

This was an open ended design project where I had to complete secondary research and then find my own interview participants to uncover a problem and develop a solution.
My 1-1 mentor acted as the sole stakeholder
Users often purchase new clothing items yet feel dissatisfied with their wardrobe choices, leading to decision fatigue and reduced confidence in styling.
This challenge impacts both daily outfit selection and special occasion planning, necessitating a solution that simplifies wardrobe management and enhances user satisfaction.
An iterative design approach was adopted, focusing on empathy-driven research and user-centered design principles:
1. Empathy Phase: Developed an initial hypothesis and conducted both secondary and primary research to understand user needs and behaviors.
2. Define Phase: Utilized the Jobs-to-Be-Done framework to identify core user needs and prioritize opportunities.
3. Design Phase: Engaged in ideation, created user stories, developed site maps and user flows, and established the brand platform.
4. Iterative Testing & Design: Conducted sketches and guerrilla user testing, followed by high-fidelity prototyping and multiple rounds of user testing to refine the design.
The solution was implemented through a series of structured steps:
• Ideation: Employed methods such as 2x2 matrix, why-how laddering, and analogies to generate innovative solutions.
• User Stories: Converted underserved jobs-to-be-done into desired outcome statements to guide feature development.
• Information Architecture: Developed site maps and user flows to outline the app's structure and navigation.
• Brand Development: Established a brand personality and attributes that resonate with the target user persona, Chloe.
• Design System: Created a comprehensive design system to maintain consistency across the app.
• Prototyping & Testing: Developed interactive prototypes and conducted usability testing to gather feedback and make iterative improvements.
The final product is an mobile fashion companion app that allows users to:
• Create and save personalized outfits based on their style, favorite body parts, and activities.
• Plan outfits considering location, weather, and the day's events.
• Increase wardrobe utilization and satisfaction with clothing choices.
The app received positive feedback, with users expressing eagerness for its availability, indicating a strong market need and potential for high user adoption.
Through this project, I gained deeper expertise in:
• Empathy-Driven Design: Understanding the importance of aligning design solutions with genuine user needs.
• Iterative Development: Valuing continuous testing and refinement to enhance user experience.
• Comprehensive Research: Recognizing the significance of combining secondary and primary research to uncover actionable insights.
These experiences reinforced my belief in the power of user-centered design and the impact of thorough research in creating meaningful products.
The insights and skills acquired from this project are applicable to future endeavors in:
• Fashion Technology: Developing solutions that merge fashion with technology to enhance user experiences.
• User-Centric Product Development: Ensuring that product strategies are grounded in a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors.
This project has equipped me with the tools and confidence to tackle complex design challenges and contribute to innovative solutions, even in industries I previously have no exposure to.
