Overview

 House2Home specializes in home décor items and accessories, including prints, posters, photos, lighting, and small accent pieces. Surveys revealed that most customers are new homeowners or renters seeking to personalize their spaces but lack confidence in doing so.
 
 The project aimed to develop and validate a solution for selling starter kits to assist these individuals in decorating their new homes.

My Role

 As a one-person team, I was responsible for ideation, sketching, wire framing, UX/UI design, prototyping, and usability testing.

Research Methods

Utilized insights from ten user interviews, developed a user persona, and analyzed a recorded interview matching the persona.

Software and Tools

• Concepts iPad app for ideation and sketching
• Adobe XD for wireframes, high-fidelity design, and prototyping.

Objectives & Constraints

The goal was to design a website solution, specifically for larger screens (desktop and laptop), that offers starter kits for new homeowners,  The products ranged from $10 to $50, excluding furniture and large appliances.

Stakeholders & Collaborations

As the sole designer, I collaborated with internal stakeholders at House2Home to align the design with business objectives.

This was a school project and my 1-1 mentor represented the internal stakeholders at House2Home.

Making it Happen

Challenges & Impact

New homeowners and renters often struggle to transform their spaces into personalized homes due to a lack of design confidence and uncertainty in selecting cohesive décor items.

Addressing this challenge could enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales for House2Home.

Approach & Methodology

Employed a modified version of Google’s 5-Day Design Sprint Methodology to rapidly ideate, prototype, and test solutions.

Execution & Implementation

Conducted competitive analysis, developed user personas, mapped user journeys, sketched solutions, created wireframes, and designed high-fidelity prototypes. Usability testing was performed to gather feedback for iterative improvements.

Outcomes & Impact

Delivered a validated website design offering starter kits tailored for new homeowners and renters, simplifying the process of personalizing their living spaces
